Subaru might be produced in Russia

One more Japanese car producer may start producing its cars in Russia. Fuji Heavy Industries, which owns brand Subaru, might open its production of 30 thousand cars a year in Russia. The decision of constructing the plant is to be taken within two- three years, when the car sales will reach 30 thousand a year.

“At the moment the decision on constructing the plant has not been taken. We are just studying the opportunity of production localization”, commented at Subaru Motors, the Fuji Heavy Industries subsidiary in Russia.

In 2011 Subaru Motors plans to sell 13 thousand of cars in Russia, for 11 months the result has reached 11.1 thousand of cars. In 2012 the company plans to distribute 20 thousand cars, in 2012 about 30 thousand and in 2014 about 40 thousand cars. Now the best seller is Subaru Forester, the second place is held by Subaru Outback, Subaru Impreza is on the third place.

Russian experts consider the company’s plans very ambitious, as it will be hard to increase in three time for three year from 12 thousand cars in 2011 up to 40 thousand in 2014.
