In the Name of the Country: Mikhail Prokhorov May Marry to Become the President
A Husband-to-Be

To the attention of all Cinderellas out there: the Russian Prince Charming, Mikhail Prokhorov has decided to enter the presidential elections in 2012. There is only one obstacle on his passage to the Kremlin, and that is a wife, or better, the lack thereof.

Demonstrating the best traits of a determined Russian, Prokhorov is rumoured to be considering getting married ahead of the elections. Seriously, every Pater patriae must have a second half. Needless to say, Caesar's wife should be beyond suspicion, and there are doubts that the billionaire can find someone to commit to in such a short space of time. You never know, of course, everything is possible. Prokhorov himself has acknowledged his readiness to tie the knot, "if this is necessary for the country and for the victory at the elections".

The rumour has prompted several spoof competitions for the status of "Prokhorov's bride". The Russian It-girl and TV hostess Xenia Sobchak was once again named as the top candidate. As for Prokhorov's major plans upon winning the Presidency, he promised to free Mikhail Khodorkovsky from prison.

Whether Prokhorov marries or not before March 2012, should he win to become the President of Russia in 2012, this soap opera could eclipse the love story of Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni.
