Russian Biathlon Team is Best in Mixed Rally

On December 18, Russian biathlon ream won gold medals in the mixed rally at the World Cup’s third stage in Hochfilzen, Austria.

      The team consisted of Olga Vilukhina, Olga Zaitseva, Alexey Volkov and Anton Shipulin, managed to reach the finish line for one hour 13 minutes and 33 seconds, avoiding any penalty laps.

      The second place team, the Czech team, finished 27 second behind the winners, and France was the third.

      The mixed rally win was Russia's third gold Hochfilzen, with women’s team leader Olga Zaitseva also topping the 7.5-kilometer sprint and 10-kilometer pursuit. Zaitseva has already taken silver in the pursuit and bronze in sprint at the event’s second stage last week.

      The next stage of the IBU World Cup will be held in Oberhof, Germany in January 2 – 8, 2012.
