Worker and Kolkhoz Woman to Show Soviet New Year Decorations

December 27 will see the opening of an exhibition of Soviet New Year paraphernalia: Christmas-tree decorations, photos, pictures and cards in the museum-exhibition center Worker and Kolkhoz Woman.

The history of Christmas-tree decorations began long before the foundation of the USSR; they withstood the test of atheistic and anti-bourgeois ideology of communism.
Thanks to the Soviet ideology, however, there appeared original and peculiar fur-tree decorations and toys that made up an entire layer of cultural heritage of the Soviet epoch. Each series of fur-tree toys was created under the influence of important historical events; therefore one can easily trace the country’s history.

The exhibition runs till January, 5th.
