Monument to Soviet Gymnast Boris Shakhlin Opens in Ishim

Monument to the legendary Soviet gymnast Boris Shakhlin (1932 - 2008), a native of Ishim town of the Tyumen Region was unveiled there on Tuesday.
      
      The five-metre monument to the sevenfold Olympic champion Boris Shakhlin has been set up the Central Stadium.
      
      The sportsman’s figure cast of stainless steel leans against an information display, which shows symbols of the Olympic movement - a torch, an emblem of rings and three cities (Melbourne, Rome and Tokyo) where Boris Shakhlin won seven Olympic gold medals.
