Snowmobile Festival to Take Place in Karelia

The 8th International Festival of snowmobile sport OpenKarelia will be held in Karelian town Olonets on January 27-29, 2012. More than 150 applications has been already received in December in comparison with the previous year when only 140 participants from across the country competed during the festival.

The main aim of the festival is the development of snowmobiling in Russia. It is also a great opportunity to communicate with lovers of this winter activity, to get experience, to discuss future travellings and to organize new snowmobile teams and clubs.

OpenKarelia attracts not only participants, but also many spectators. This year guests will be able to enjoy a special program thant includes tours to Karelian ethnic village and ancient monastery, entertainment shows and performances and Snow Fest Party, where winners will be awarded.

The Republic of Karelia has been chosen to host the festival due to picturesque landscapes and well-developed transport and tourist infrastructure.
