Moscow Cultural Heritage Department has agreed to conclusions of an examination, which recognized Circular locomotive depot of the Nikolaev Railway a cultural heritage site.
The circular locomotive depot located in the Komsomolskaya Square in Moscow, was constructed in 1847-1851 following the project of architect Konstantin Ton. The monument has suffered certain losses due to barbarous attitude in the Soviet period. Since 1991 it has been registered in the list of cultural heritage sites. According to the union of old city’s defenders Archnadzor, railwaymen planned to demolish the depot to lay down the 4th main line on the site Moscow-Kryukovo. Now, however, the locomotive depot has gained the status of a monument of architecture.
