New Year Carnival to be Held in Elbrus Region

Winter carnival, colorful ski show and best costume contest will be held at Mount Cheget, in the Elbrus District of Kabardino- Balkaria on New Year's Day.

The carnival will take place near cafe “Ai” and will be finished by skiing down with torches. The beautiful show is organized by Moscow art club “Chegetya” and administration of the Elbrus village.

The New Year celebration will continue in early January: a concert of bard song is going to take place at the station “Mir”, at the height of 3.5 thousand meters. Famous Russian bard Mikhail Kalinkin will participate in a performance.

Currently, about two thousand tourists are having rest in recreation centres of Elbrus. It is expected that the number of visitors will increase just before the holidays. Last year about seven thousand people celebrated New Year in the Elbrus region.
