The Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences after three-year research has presented a new medicine for the virus of tick-borne encephalitis.
According to scientists, the new drug is a hundred times more effective than the traditional immunoglobulin received from human serum and has no side effects.
It is known that the solution is based on chimeric antibodies that are constructed with gene engineering methods and “tie up” the encephalitis virus. As a result the virus is unable to replicate and the immune system detects the pathogen.
