In 2012 Forest Fires Can Spread to Cities Again

Forest fires in 2012 can spread onto settlements in the majority of federal districts of Russia, the head of center Antistikhia of the Ministry of Emergency Measures of the Russian Federation Vladislav Bolov warns.
      A similar situation developed in summer 2011 and especially 2010, when forest fires caused damage to 199 settlements, 3.2 thousand houses, and 62 people in 19 federal subjects.
      The total damage of forest fires of 2010 exceeded 12 billion roubles. In 2011 fires also pervaded large areas, first of all, the northwest of the country, the Far East and Siberia.
