14th Century Seal of Italian Merchant Found in Rostov Region

A bronze cast seal once owned by an Italian merchant has been found near Azov in Rostov Region.
It was reported by the website with a reference to the head of archeology department of the Azov Memorial Estate Andrey Maslovsky.
As he said, the artifact is of great value for the countrys history. The pendant seal is in a good condition, and it bears a clearly visible name of the owner of a fishing camp on River Don - Bartolomeo d'Pichinas.
With this seal the merchant marked his goods, so that the salesman could not steal an extra sterlet from a bunch. Thus it was used for sealing goods. I think it was also used for sealing letters, - Andrey Maslovsky said.
The only seal found in Azov will be exhibited in the Azov Memorial Estate.
