A museum dedicated to the history of search of the place of the legendary Battle on the Ice is being created in Samolva Settlement of the Pskov Region.
The museum will be founded in Samolva Settlement of Gdovsky District, where the expedition head-quarter was located, and most of the expedition members with its head, the military historian George Karayev, lived.
A premise in a late 19th century building, which used to belong to the merchants Petuhovs, and now houses the Samolva library, has been allotted for the museum.
The museum is planned to be opened in April, 2012 for the 770th anniversary of the Battle on Ice and the 50th since the completion of the expedition.
