Museum of Local Lore in Ostrolensky Settlement of Nagaybaksky District of the Chelyabinsk Region has burned down. Both the museum premises and exhibits have suffered from fire.
The fire occurred on the night of January, 5th. The fire destroyed 280 square meters of the roof, and damaged the rarities kept in the museum, including photos, books, Cossack household items, and a reconstructed village log hut. As preliminary assessed the fire occurred due to infringement of rules of installing electric equipment.
Most of the museum exhibits have been lost. However, copies of the most valuable photos and documents have remained; besides the museum staff hope to rescue metal Cossack utensils. The exposition will be restored and transferred to the premises of Ostrolensky Art School.
