Russian Cows Wear Fur Bras in Winter

Cows in Russia's Republic of Yakutia have been equipped with hand-made fur bras to help survive the biting cold. Such bras are intended to save cows' udder from frostbite.

Yakutia is officially the coldest place in the northern hemisphere, plus the weather this year is extremely cold, with temperatures under minus 55 degrees Celsius, so Yakutian fermers take special measures to keep their cattles safe. And making the fur bras is only one of them.

The bras are usually made of rabbit fur. The triangular bovine brassieres boast three straps, two of which go across the animal's waist, and the third under its tail.

Local resident Natalia Semenova says many cattle owners have already got used to making fur bras. She also says that people, who don't know about this custom, can find the whole idea rather strange and funny.
