Russian Youth Olympic team now holds the first place on the number of medals at the Youth Olympics 2012 in Innsbruck.
Skier Uliana Kaysheva brought Russia its first gold after finishing first on Monday in women’s biathlon 7.5 km pursuit. She was 27.9 seconds faster to finish the distance than her closest contender Franziska Preuss of Germany. Kaysheva also won the bronze on Sunday in the sprint.
The second gold medal was gained by skier Alexander Selyaninov, who won 10 kilometer cross country classic. Another Russian skier, Anastasia Sedova, won the 5 kilometer classic in cross-country skiing to secure Russia's third gold medal.
On Tuesday, Russian figure skating pair Anna Yanovskaya and Sergei garnered 86.77 points in the free dance portion of the competition and so gained gold medals. Another pair from Russia, Maria Simonova and Dmitry Dragun, took the bronze. Figure skaters Lina Fedorova and Maxim Miroshkin won the silver and Anastasia Dolidze and Vadim Ivanov took the bronze.
Russian young and promising figure skater Elizaveta Tuktamysheva took the first place in the single skating. After an optional programme she gained 111,27 points, and 173,10 total. Another single skater, Adelina Sotnikova, took the second place with 159,08 points.
After the fifth day of the Youth Olympics, Russian team has 5 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals and takes the first place. The second place is occupied by China.
