The Guardian newspaper offered its readers to take a test on their knowledge of Russian literature as part of its culture section.
The quizz was dedicated to the Old Russian New Year. "It's a good moment to check how much Russian literature you know,” wrote the paper.
The quizz consists of 10 multiple-choice question about Russian fairy-tales, classical novels, Russian prominent writers, Nobel prize laureates, characters of books, screen and radio adaptations. For example, there are such questions as: “In the Russian fairytale, Vasilisa the Beautiful, the girl Vasilisa goes to the hut of Baba Yaga. What does the hut stand on?”, “Which Russian writer won the Nobel prize for literature in 1987?” and "The Scarlet Flower by Sergey Aksakov is an adaptation of which fairytale?"
The Guardian newspaper regularly offers quizzes on different themes on the relevant page. These tests are usually dedicated to some holidays, noticeable events and historical facts.
