Graphic Novel Based on Anna Politkovskaya’s Book Published in France

According to the political magazine Le Nouvel Observateur, a graphic novel about atrocities of Russian soldiers towards civilian Chechen population has been published in France.

The book is based on the data collected by the assassinated journalist Anna Politkovskaya. Its author is the well-known Italian artist Igort, who presently lives in Paris.

Before the creation of his book the artist had been traveling for two years across Ukraine and Russia. Here is, for example, his statement about Siberia: “it is a strange place, which doesn’t provide for a human being to live there”. One cannot perceive of the atmosphere of Russia, unless one lives there, he thinks.
