Exhibition “Book of the Artist. Livre d'artiste. Spanish Collection” displaying illustrations by Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, and Joan Miró from private collections will be opened in the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts on February, 1st.
The exposition will also present works by three three Spanish artists more - Juan Gris, Antoni Clavé and Antoni Tàpies, altogether around 300 graphic works, including etchings, and lithographs, and wood engravings.
“Book of the Artist” ("Livre d'artiste") is a special genre in the history of art of the 20th century, which developed thanks the gallery owner and publisher Ambroise Vollard, who ordered book illustrations to artists.
The exhibition will run till March, 25th.
