Last week another attempt of illegal seizure of land in the water security zone for building it up took place in Pokhlebaiki Village standing on the bank of Istrinsky water storage reservoir in the Moscow Region.
Local dwellers have been resisting the seizure of a half-kilometer site on the bank of Istra River for the second year already.
On January, 11th people with iron stakes and rope fencing appeared in Pokhlebaiki again. Residents of nearby houses hastened to meet them. "They were going to fence the area of one of the sites marked last time” - the villager Pavel Koshelenko said.
The marking reaches closer than 100 meters from the bank, i.e. it breaks the borders of the water protective zone defined by the Water code. Besides, the bank belt of the river is a zone of sanitary protection.
Meanwhile lots of sites located within the bank belt of Istra River are occupied illegally, but local authorities do not react to these infringements. So far Pavel Koshelenko and his neighbors are trying to preserve the only free river bank of Pokhlebaiki relying on their own resources only.
