Monument to Admiral Pavel Nakhimov to be Set up in Petersburg
Pavel Nakhimov

This year marks the 210th anniversary since the birth of the great Russian fleet admiral Pavel Nakhimov.
In this connection the first full-length monument to the admiral is planned to be set up in a public garden in the Nakhimov Street in Petersburg in 2012.
Presently there is only one sculptural bust of Admiral Nakhimov in St. Petersburg - it is located next to Nakhimov School. At the same time there is even no memorial plate in Nakhimov Street.
The place for setting up the monument has not been incidental. It was there, on Vasilevsky Island, where Pavel Nakhimov got his first skills in the navy.
The monument to Nakhimov designed by the sculptor Grigory Lukyanov will be set up on the birthday of Admiral Nakhimov, July, 5th, 2012.
