The Grand Cascade Fountain at the Peterhof Palace in St. Petersburg will be renovated before the summer season. Nineteen sculptures of this and other fountains have been given for restoration to masters of the northern capital. Such big statues as “Neva”, “Juno”, “Galatea”, “Pandora” and “Perseus” are among them.
The restoration will be lasting for few months. During this time experts will clear the old gilding, remove defects in the metal and gild the sculptures again. Figures will be returned to their places in the middle of May, by the beginning of the fountain season.
Last year another sculpture composition “Samson and the Lion” was fully restored.
