Two years before the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games, Russia starts selection of candidates for volunteers.

      An army of 28,000 volunteers is intended to help with preparations for the Games, to help guests and to organize the closing ceremony. Now there are about 700 volunteers currently working at Sochi Olympic objects. 

      The volunteers will come from the whole country, from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok, to take part in the main sports event for Russia. 

      On the whole, such workers make up 30 percent of the total workforce at the Olympics and Paralympics. So, it is important for all the candidates to be well trained. Test events for the games will be used to give volunteers practice of working at the venues. For example, a select group of early applicants received trainings on the Alpine Skiing European Cup in February. 

      For Olympic movement volunteers are not only helpers. They are "soul of the Games", people who create sporting and festive atmosphere. 

      “The Olympics have given an impulse for the development of a volunteering movement, a movement of people with burning good hearts who are ready to help others on a voluntary basis", Russian deputy prime minister Dmitry Kozak said at the launch ceremony.
