New metro station Volkhonka in Moscow will become an underground exhibition hall of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
Copies of sculptures and canvasses from collections of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts will be the basis of the station exposition. The art design of the station will be created with support of the museum and financed from the federal budget.
Volkhonka Station will become one of the three deep stations of the section of the Kalininsko-Solntsevsky Line from Tretyakovskaya to Delovoi Tsentr (Business Center) stations. Besides Volkhonka, there will be two more stations: Plyuschikha and Kutuzovsky Prospekt. All the three stations will be decorated with stained-glass windows, granite and marble of white and yellow shades. The line of these three stations is expected to form one composition element in the system of the Moscow metro. The stations are planned to be put into operation in 2015 - the beginning of 2016.
