Deer in Murmansk Region to Pay for Food Now

Fee for grazing of private animals has been introduced in the Murmansk Region this year.

The innovation, however, concerns only one farm enterprise - Krasnoshchelye. The local head of the Reindeer cooperative has decided to introduce a fee for grazing animals this year. There are about ten percent of privately owned deer in the common herd.

Henceforth, the shepherds have the right to keep only 12 deer in the collective herd free of charge. For veterans the number of “free” deer is half of that. If they have more deer they have to pay one thousand rubles a month per head. For outsiders the fare is twice higher.
