Northern climate can's stop warm hearts. Russian team confirmed their status as a kings of a beach soccer, winning the European Cup in Moscow.
Russian team, under training of Mikhail Likhachev, beat Portugal in the final, 4-2, to claim the Grand Prize, while Switzerland defeated Italy to finish third.
The home crowd of thousands waited as Russia took on Portugal in the final. The game itself was expected to be close, with both nations two of the strongest in the sport. That's just how the contest panned out.
The home side opened the scoring early on thanks to Egor Shaykov. However, the Russians would have to wait until midway through the second period to double their advantage as Egor Eremeev made it 2-0.
Almost the whole game was under a total control of Russian team, giving their fans a fantastic show of beach soccer by the reigning world champions. Aleksey Makarov, the best player of the championship, increased their happiness by making it 3-0 with what was almost the final touch of the second period.
Portugal team tried their best to find their way back into the match. But the second Eremeev's goal of the game left them without chances for winning.
Still, the Portuguese were able to make the score slightly more respectable, pulling back two goals late in the game. But nothing could spoil the Russian celebration.
Russian team is a current beach soccer world champion. In September 2011, In the final of the World Cup in Ravenna, Italy, they defeated Brazil champion team 12-8. It was announced in February 2012 that Russia is going to win the right to host the Beach Soccer World Cup in 2015, 2017 or 2019 years.
