A new attraction – Dinosaur Theme Park – will be built in the town of Kotelnich, Kirov region before the end of 2012. A unique deposit of dinosaurs bones was found in this area in 1930s.
Then, the expedition's excavations were conducted in 1948 and 1949, and in the early 90s an exploration of the area started here. According to experts, this place is unique: its fossil fauna includes about 20 species of vertebrates. The only analogue is the Karoo plateau in South Africa.
Tourists will be offered several new routes: a tour “Mysteries of Dinosaurs” with a visit to Dinopark and the deposit of bones of ancient reptiles on Sokolya Gora; a historic tour to ancient settlements of the town of Kotelnich, a visit to the Museum of urban life.
As a result of the program the number of tourists in the town is supposed to increase up to 53 thousand people a year. Currently, the number of visitors is a bit more than 17 thousand people a year.
The town of Kotelnich is situated on the right bank of the Vyatka, 87 kilometers southwest of Kirov by rail and 124 kilometers along the highway. The history of the city dates back to XII century.
