The reconstruction of the Summer Garden in Saint Petersburg that began in 2009 is finally completed. It is planned that the Garden will be ready for opening in March.

This reconstruction is the largest one in the last 200 years. One of the main tasks was to renovate green areas, in particular, to cut dead trees and to plant the new ones.

There have also been renovated the famous lattices and fences of the Summer Garden and there have been made copies of about a hundred sculptures. The originals of the statues will be kept in the Russian Museum, to where they were transferred with the beginning of the restoration of the oldest green space in St. Petersburg.

The opening of the Summer Garden to the public is expected in the end of May 2012 and will be connected with the upcoming Day of the City.
