Kungur Ice Cave May be Included in UNESCO List

Culture Ministry of the Perm Territory will now be responsible for “promotion” of the Kungur Ice Cave. “A visiting session of the Advisory Council in the town of Kungur resulted in an offer to include the Kungur Ice Cave in the UNESCO list of nature sanctuaries” - Konstantin Pyankov, deputy of the minister for development of business and trade of the Perm Territory said.

“But we have worked on it since 2008 and carried out all the procedures required. However, we have received a negative response from the federal ministry of natural resources. Now we are actively engaged in including the Museum of Political Repressions “Perm-36” in the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites” - Alexander Protasevich, the deputy minister of culture of the Perm Territory pointed out. “I think that it will be possible in this context to try again including the Kungur Ice Cave in the list.
