Yelena Isinbayeva Sets New World Record

On Thursday, renowned Russian athlete Yelena Isinbayeva set her new world indoor pole vault record, clearing 5 meters 1 centimeter at the XL Galan meet in Stockholm.

       The Russian several-times champion a one centimeter surpassed her own previous world record she had set in Donetsk, Ukraine, in 2009, at the second attempt to win the competition. Britain's Holly Bleasdale came second, with Yarisley Silva of Cuba in third as both cleared 4.72.

      In her interview after the completion Yelena Isinbayeva said she didn't realize how she was able to mark the new record. But, at the same time, the athlete pointed out at fact that she had taken that height for two times at her trainings. 

      She said it was one of her happiest days since her triumph at the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing.

      Isinbayeva also holds the outdoor record of 5.06 meters, set in 2009. She is considered as one of the best sportswomen in Russia. Yelena is an Olympic Champion 2004 and 2008 , as well as three world titles record breaker. She has recorded only rare successes over the last two years, winning one Diamond League meeting, but finishing outside the medals at the 2010 and 2011 world championships.
