The clock tower of the Vyborg Cathedral has got cracks. According to representatives of the All-Russian Society for Protection of Monuments, there is a threat of collapse.
One of the tower walls has got a deep crack today. Due to the specific design of the tower the loss of integrity in masonry may very quickly lead to collapse, the restorers point out.
Architect-restorer Irina Halustova from Petersburg believes that unless urgent measures are taken, the building will be lost. This and some other architectural monuments of Vyborg require restoration again. Last time restoration works were carried out in 1985.
