An unusual experiment will be held at Tambov State University May 10-31. During three weeks 25 student volunteers will not use computers, mobile phones, tablets and other popular gadgets. 

      Home phone is the only means of communication for them at this period. Mobile phones will be available only in emergency situations for calls the police or an ambulance. Each participant in the experiment will have a special diary for describing his feelings twice a day.

      Psychologists — professors and graduate students of the psychological faculty of the University will help students and gather information. After that, they are going to publish a special scientific edition on how to avoid Internet addiction.

      According to the words of the rector Vladislav Yuryev, it is social networking, blogs and forums that leads to changes in the psyche of young people. That is why the University's representatives have decided to organize this experiment and to see how much the Internet and mobile phones affect the mentality and emotional state of youth and how dangerous "to live in the Internet” can be.

      At the same time, Mr. Yuryev says: “We understand that every adult person should decide for himself whether to switch on a computer today or not, and just the restrictions are ineffective”.
