A huge dump is located in the resort settlement Loo of the Lazarevsky District of Sochi, at the distance of 700 meters from the Black Sea and 200 meters from a school.
Wastes from the entire city - from Adler to Lazarevsky – keep being brought and dumped there. The dump expands every day and moves closer to apartment houses, the Ecological Watch of the North Caucasus informs.
The range territory already makes 26 hectares of the Sochi national park, whereas its volume, according to official figures only, is more than 9 million cubic meter. More than 10 thousand people live and 11 large sanatoria and more than 150 private hotels are located in the zone of negative influence.
According to ecologists, in case of intensive deposits or a tornado there is a threat of a landslip of this mullions-strong dump to the Black Sea. In addition to that ground waters are contaminated.
