Chapayevs Revolver Displayed in St. Petersburg

Revolver of the legendary commander of the Civil war Vasily Chapayev can be seen in the Petersburg Military History Museum on the year of his 125th anniversary.

Chapayevs revolver made in 1895 was a present from Tula armourers in 1918. It has a gold notch Chapayev and a gilded pattern on it. The story of the revolver during the period from 1919 (the year of Chapayevs death) till 1940 remains a mystery. It is known that police officers handed it over to the museum in 1940. Chapaevs revolver is quite well known among the fans of military history and especially those interested in the destiny of the famous commander. For many of them this weapon is the last argument in disputes on how Vasily Chapayev actually perished.

The exhibition Revolver of Legendary Commander runs till March, 31st.
