Two National Parks to be Created in Altay Territory

Two national parks - Mountain Kolyvan and Togul (or Salairsky) will be created in Altay territory in the framework of the concept of development of specially protected natural zones.

Mountain Kolyvan will adjoin the Tigireksky reserve and will occupy some parts of territories of Tretyakov, Krasnoshchekov, Kurinsk, and Zmeinogorsk Districts. This natural complex will attract tourists with its lakes Kolyvansky and Beloe, and Kolyvan stone-cutting factory.

In the area of the future park there have remained a great number of historical and nature monuments. The national park Togul will be especially attractive during the autumn and winter period. It will settle down around Salairsky theft, in taiga that in low mountainous area, which is very convenient for active winter recreation. Both parks are planned to be opened in 2017.

Now Russia has 42 national parks, with the overall area of more than 70 000 square km.
