An opposition meeting "For Fair Elections" will be held on Pushkinskaya square on March 5 at 19.00.
After some wrangling, the protest organizers and Moscow authorities have reached a compromise for choosing a place for the action. Previously, the opposition wanted to hold the meeting in the Manezhnaya square right in front of the Kremlin, which wasn't supported by the authorities. In their turn they offered the opposition Bolotnaya Square, which was unacceptable for the organizers. At last, the both sides have decided to choose the third variant.
So, city officials will block Tverskaya street near Pushkinskaya square for the rally and also allow the protesters to fill Novopushkinsky park nearby. The number of participants is expected to be about 10,000, but if this number is exceeded, city authorities promised to close several lanes of Tverskaya street, and if necessary – all of Tverskaya so that rally participants could also fill Novopushkinsky park. The steps of Pushkinsky cinema will be rally's tribune.
The meeting will last from 19.00 to 21.00. Communist party will hold their action at the same place. They say they may also join the demonstration of liberals, if they gather enough protesters.
There are another actions to be held this weekend in Moscow. Part of the protesters are going to "Take the Kremlin into the White Ring", repeating the previous opposition action, when thousands of protesters stood with white ribbons along the Garden Ring road on February 26. This time they are going to encircle the Kremlin which requires lees people, but the action is still notable.
Manezhnaya square will be occupied on March 4 and 5 by several pro-Putin youth organizations.
On Sunday evening there will be a mass rally of the All-Russia popular front, where both president Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Putin are said to be participating.
