Architecture monuments in Leningrad Region are in a catastrophic situation.
Palace ensembles of the 18th centuries in Ropsha and Gostilishcha that used to be magnificent now lie in ruins. Unless means for restoration are found this year, they will be lost.
The well-known Ropsha Palace was constructed under the project of Rastrelli during the reign of Peter the Great; the successor to the throne Peter the Third was killed there. The manor is in the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Before the early 1990s everything was good. Now the palace is not even protected. Only walls have remained from it.
The unique ancient manor in the Settlement of Gostilitsy is located just 10 kilometers away from Ropsha. An amusing fortress of the early 18th century was once located there.
