After three years without gold at the World Athletics Championships, Yelena Isinbayeva has finally took the first place at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Turkey’s Istanbul.
Yelena was able to ensure her victory by successfully taking the height of 4.80 meters. It was her fourth indoor world title in total.
Isinbayeva set a world record of 5.01 meters last month but failed to set new record of 5.02 meters at this championship. However, she brought Russia its sole gold medal in Turkey along with three silver medals and six bronze.
The silver medal was given to French Vanessa Boslak and Briton Holly Bleasedale was the third. Another Russian pole vaulter, Anastasiya Savchenko, was only tenth.
In spite of this amazing victory, Russia still can't compete with USA, which now tops the overall standings with 9 golds, leaving Great Britain (3 golds), Ephiopia (2) and Kenya (2) behind.
