XII International Festival of Mariinsky Ballet will be held in St. Petersburg from March, 22nd till April, 1st. Leading choreographic collectives from six countries of Europe and America will take part in it.
Each Mariinsky Festival traditionally starts with a premiere. This time it will be a renewed ballet of the French choreographer Rolan Peti The Youth and Death, which was first performed in 1946. The ballet was first staged in the Maryinsky Theater in the late 1990s for Farukh Ruzimatov and Ulyana Lopatkina. The new soloist in the Petersburg premiere will be Vladimir Shklyarov.
In the framework of the festival they will also show The Swan Lake, Bayadera, and Sylphid . Invited world stars from the Bolshoi Theater, the London Royal Theater, New York City Ballet, Vienna Staatsoper, and the Dutch National Ballet will perform. Tours of Maurice B?jart troupe will become the highlight of the festival.
