In Great Novgorod there is begun fund raising on monument building to the Novgorod national home guard in the war of 1812.
      
      The year 2012 marks the 200th anniversary since the victory of the Russian people in Patriotic War of 1812. More than 6 thousand Novgorod soldiers were lost in the battle fields. In memory of the military feat of civil guardsmen a monument to the Novgorod home guard of 1812 was made created on donations of Novgorod dwellers in 1840. The project was created by the well-known architect A.P. Bryullov. Unfortunately, in the early 20th century the monument was lost.
      
      Today, at the initiative of the public of Veliky Novgorod, it was decided to recreate the monument.
