BMW withdrew 15,000 models of 5 and 6 Series produced between 2003 and 2010. This is due to a technical fault that can affect the process of starting a car.
This is part of a global action that sees over a million of cars taken off the market due to the same fault. At risk is the battery wiring in the car boot that may cause ignition. The spokesperson for BMW has noted that so far there were no complaints, nor incidents; however, the company chose to take preventative measures. The procedure or repairing the fault is likely to only take 30 mins.
In 2012, BMW plans either to acquire, or to build a car factory in Russia, which is considered an important market for BMW cars.
