Pushkinsky cinema will be transformed into the theatre "Russia", according to the contract signed between a chain of Karo Film cinemas and Stage Entertainment.
After the reconstruction the halls of "Russia" will seat up to 1740-1750 viewers. The former cinema is planned to be rapidly turned into a complex theatrical stage.
In the past Pushkinsky cinema already had the name "Russia". It was built in 1961 according to the project of architect Yu.Sheverdyaev on the place of the demolished Strastnoi Monastery. For many years the cinema was the main venue for the Moscow International Film Festival.
