The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts is going to celebrate its centenary and tell about its history in documental and art monuments.
Conceived as a modest students' museum under the Moscow University and named after Alexander Pushkin in 1937, within the hundred years of its existence the Museum of Fine Arts grew into one of the best-known museums of the world, and expanded into an entire Museum Town including about 15 buildings, and underwent numerous transformations. If one goes deep into the history of the museum collection, it will be a captivating multivolume novel of triumphs and defeats, not without mysteriously disappeared wills and tragic deaths. Visitors of the exhibition are going to read chapters of this novel and enjoy the original design of the exposition.
The exhibition runs from April 3 till July 1.
