Kaliningrad Celebrates Herring Day

Kaliningrad will celebrate a traditional Herring Day by holding the annual gastronomic festival during two weeks, April 2-14, 2012. All guests will be able to taste various fish delicacies.

The unusual holiday appeared in 2006 at the initiative of the Museum of the World Ocean. On this day, thousands of residents and tourists come to the embankment of Peter the Great to take part in various activities like concerts and competitions, to visit museums and to eat fresh fish.

This year, the idea has been maintained by the regional nonprofit company “Hospitality Club” that includes the leading hotels, restaurants and cafes of Kalinigrad. Local chefs invented new recipes and made special menu – from traditional salads to exotic soups.
