The 25th ceremony of the Russian Film Nika Award took place in Moscow last Sunday. The film "Once Upon a Time There Lived a Simple Woman" by Andrey Smirnov has become the main prize-winner.
The director of the year is Andrey Zvyagintsev, the author of the film "Elena". For the first time in many years two winners - Nadezhda Markina ("Elena"), and Darya Ekamasova ("Once Upon a Time There Lived a Simple Woman") - have been chosen in the nomination Best female role.
Once Upon a Time There Lived a Simple Woman has also received a prize as the best feature film and the best scenario work (Andrey Smirnov), for the supportive male role (Roman Madyanov), the best work of the artist and the costume designer.
As for the box office hit of the year "Vysotsky: Thank God I'm Alive" it has taken only two prizes: for the best sound and Dmitry Astrakhan's role in the nomination Discovery of the Year.
