Russian Doll Museum Appeared in Kirov Region
Russian doll from Vyatka

The Museum of Russian Nesting Doll (Matryoshka) has been opened in Nolinsk, Kirov Region.

Visitors can see toys from different corners of Russia. The central part of the exposition is dedicated to nesting doll from Vyatka, which dates back to the 1960's. The main feature of this unique doll is that it is encrusted with straw.

The museum was founded in Nolinsk, where one of the major Kirov company of folk arts and crafts is situated. This enterprise ("Vyatka souvenir”) produces traditional wooden toys more than 80 years.

Nolinsk is located on the right bank of the Voya River (a tributary of the Vyatka River), 137 kilometres south of Kirov. The city traces its history to 1612.

      Address: 30, Lenin Str.
