Exhibition Jubilee Pushkin Opens in Mikhaylovskoye

A.S. Pushkin’s Memorial Estate "Mikhaylovskoye" in the Pskov Region has opened the exhibition Jubilee Pushkin.

The exposition presents around 200 works of art, including paintings and applied art, as well as samples of souvenirs released for various anniversaries of the poet.

It displays both “academic” portraits of Alexander Pushkin (such as, for example, a copy of the poet’s well-known portrait by Tropinin, or L.V. Gervits's painting Pushkin in Mikhaylovskoye which was painted in 1982 and simply coincided with his jubilee), and comic pictures (Pushkin with his nanny astride a dark blue African elephant). Traditional portraits are side by side with portraits and self-portraits by the poet himself; the images of Pushkin and his Mikhaylovskoye Estate are drawn on matchboxes, embroidered or pyrographed on wood.

The exhibition Jubilee Pushkin has been prepared for the 90th anniversary of the Mikhaylovskoye Memorial Estate. It has located in the museum’s Scientific and Cultural Center in the settlement Pushkinsky Gory (Pushkin Hills) and is planned to run till the end of June.
