Fund Raising for Monument to Mamin-Sibiryak Starts in Nizhni Tagil
Dmitry Mamin-Sibiryak

A monument to the Russian writer Dmitry Mamin-Sibiryak will be set up in Nizhni Tagil to mark the 160th anniversary since his birth.
Sculptors have presented four projects to the jury of professionals and citizens. The 160th anniversary of Mamin-Sibiryak will be celebrated in November this year. Nine and a half million rubles will be required for construction of the monument.
Nizhni Tagil already has the experience of constructing monuments on citizens' donations. In this way the city acquired monuments to soldiers perished in local wars, and to Heroes of the Soviet Union. Now fund raising has started memorialize the popular writer. The exhibition of design sketches has become the first step in this marathon.
