This weekend, the first two fountains started working in St. Petersburg, as well as the first fountain in the Moscow's All-Russia Exhibition Centre.
The Fountain "Ball" at the Malaya Sadovaya street and the fountain on the Manezhnaya square have become the first fountains to start their work in St. Petersburg this year. The city's Vodokanal department has promised to turn on several more fountains this week, including fountains in the Nikolsky and Aleksandrovsky gardens, near the Zimny Palace, in public gardens in front of the Kazansky Cathedral and Smolny University, reconstructed fountains "Boy with a Duck" in the Tavrichesky garden and "Putti" in the Vvedensky garden, and others.
In the end of April, fountains in Kronshtadt and Gostinny Dvor will be activated. And May 9 will see activation of big fountain complexes - on the Lenin's and Moscow squares. In addition, a fountain "Bowl" placed in the city of Zelenogorsk will be opened after a capital repair on July 1.
There are 55 fountains and 4 fountain complexes in St. Petersburg. 38 of them will be working this summer season in the city.
On April 12, the first fountain was activated in the Moscow's All-Russia Exhibition Centre. It is a well-known fountain line on the main lane of the Centre. The biggest fountains of the park ("Friendship of Nations", the Golden Spike, the Stone Flower) will start their work in two weeks, on April 30, as well as all the other fountains in the city.
