Universal Amusement Park to Appear in Moscow

American company Universal Park & Resorts plans to built a "Galaxy park" amusement place in Moscow. From Russian side, BIN group of companies and its co-owner, Sait-Salam Gutseriev, in cooperation with Americans.

      The new project is expected to take up around 650-700 thousand square meters. And 150 thousands square meters will be allotted for an enclosed theme park.

      The project space will include an aqua park (about 20 thousand square meters), sports and concert arena for 20,000 visitors, trade and social objects, two business and administrative buildings, two hotels for 1100 rooms, exhibition and conference halls. There are also will be several resort areas, musical theatre, cinemas, winter garden, food courts and four-level underground parking for 10,000 places. Some attractions in the theme park will be projected especially for Moscow.

      "Park attendance will be 5-6 million people a year, of which two million will foreigners," Gutseriev said.

      The Moscow park will be the first project by NBCUniversal in Europe. The company now has four theme parks in the USA, Singapore and Japan. The project's organizers plan to make tickets to the Moscow future park the shipest among all the other parks - about 1,000 roubles ($34).

      "Russia is a very significant and attractive market for us, we see big potential for amusement parks here," said Michael Silver, the company's head. 

      It is planned to finish the building by 2018, somewhere in the southern part of the city. Moscow government has not approved the project yet. Negotiations about place, building plan and money currently under way.
