A wildlife monument of Bashkiria - the Shulgan-Tash cave - may be included in the UNESCO World heritage list.
So far the cave has taken place in the preliminary list.
The extent of all the paths of the unique karstic cave Shulgan-Tash makes more than 2.9 km. The cave has three levels inside; inside there is a small river called Podzemny (Underground) Shulgan, which actually formed this cave. In 1959 the zoologist A.V. Ryumin discovered rock paintings of the Paleolithic age in this cave. The drawings are mostly made in ochre, their age reaching 14-14.5 thousand years. Mammoths, horses and other animals, complicated signs and anthropomorphous figures are depicted in the drawings. One can also find coal pictures there.
